«Torun Eriksen is a rare gem. Just when we thought we knew where we had Torun Eriksen musically, she charts an exciting new course» Tor Hammerø, Nettavisen

With her seventh solo release on Jazzland Recordings, Eriksen ventures into new territory: the lyrics are Norwegian, the format is trio-based, the sonic landscape is electroacoustic, and the music is both improvised and meticulously composed, coexisting and intertwining. Longtime musical

collaborator and bassist Kjetil Dalland serves as an alternating anchor and free diver with his distinctive, exploratory playing. Napolitan musician Alessandra Bossa, on piano, vocals, and live electronics, expands the sonic palette, stretching across time and space – at one moment lingering, the next swirling with virtuosity. Guest artist Atle Nymo adds a fourth dimension to the album with warm and gleaming clarinet performances.

– Fastlandet tells stories of loss but also of cherishing what one has while it’s still there: life, each other, the moment – more important than anything, and yet so incredibly hard for us. «Fastlandet» is an attempt to create a place to exist in the here and now.

About Fastlandet live at Jazzalarm 2024

“It’s been a long time since I’ve witnessed such a moving performance. The musicians (…) were so present in the tender, beautiful, and mildly experimental music that, as a listener, you were drawn in and held captive whether you wanted to be or not.” Tore Stavlund, Jazz i Norge Listen to Fastlandet on Spotify
